Lyces aurimutua described in Josia; nomen protectum (ICZN Art. 23.9.1)
James S. Miller and Andrew V. Z. BrowerCharacteristics
Members of the clade of Lyces aurimutua, L. annulata, L. cruciata, L. minuta and L. tamara are recognizable by abdominal markings: they share a lateral orange stripe and a dorsal transverse orange band on A1.Nomenclature
The name employed for this species is apparently a junior subjective synonym of two older names - Bombyx jesuita Fabricius, 1787, and Josia fulvia Hübner, 1822. In an effort to preserve nomenclatural stability, Miller (2009) has indicated that these older names have not been used as valid names of taxa since before 1899 and that the name Josia aurimutua Walker, 1854, has been exclusively employed to refer to this species. Therefore, under ICZN Art, 23.9.1, Lyces aurimutua (Walker), 1854 is a nomen protectum, and Bombyx jesuita Fabricius, 1787, and Josia fulvia Hübner, 1822, are nomina oblita.Other Names for Lyces aurimutua described in Josia; nomen protectum (ICZN Art. 23.9.1)
