Looks simmilar to black vine weevil, especially in terms of walking limbs and texture. Unsure of exact clasification, but physical features (i.e. colouration) of this specimen are fairly typical for its population, most other specimens I've seen are smaller in size however.

Comments

Adomen seems to carry parasitic larvae, it is not clear how much they affect the physical health or reproductive success of the host insect, but it is almost certainly detrimental.

Nearing the end of its larval stage, this common spotted ladybird is in search of a suitable site to form a chrysalis. I returned the insect to the wheelbarrow where it was found. A pupa was later found on the same wheelbarrow several days later.

Notes
|
When I was searching through wikipedia & tolweb to try to identify this insect I originally believed it to be Harmonia axyridis (a highly invasive ladybird species). Thankfully it was not.

A few days later I noticed this pupa on the same wheel barrow as I had found the larva. A few days after that the weather was better and I was able to get a decent photo.
