- Funnel component of the funnel/mantle locking-apparatus with a deep, curved groove.
- Mantle component with a broadly curved ridge; anterior edge of ridge usually in shallow to deep depression (see photograph below under "Viscera".

- Anterior mantle margin not fused to head.
- Anterior end of nuchal cartilage not fused to mantle.

- Pigmentation and irridescence
- Irridescent tissue absent from ventral surface of funnel.
- Funnel chromatophores form a solid anteroventral patch that extends to the dorsal surface of the funnel tip.
- Head with clear patch of tissue ventral to eye and just anterior to attachment of lateral funnel adductor muscle but not extending to edge of secondary eyelid.
