Introduction
Plesioglymmius is a small but well-defined and phylogenetically diverse genus with three subgenera and eight species. Two subgenera are oriental, and one is neotropical. Specimens are extremely rare, even for Rhysodini.
A key to the subgenera of Plesioglymmius is available here.
Characteristics
The paramedian grooves of the pronotum are incomplete anteriorly but not differentiated into basal impressions and discal strioles. The marginal grooves are fine and complete. The elytral setae are virtually constant within this genus: stria II has 1-4 near the apex, stria IV has a complete series of many setae, there is one seta on the apical tubercle, 1-3 in the apical striole, and several in the tip of VII. The hind wings are long. There is only one spur each on the middle and hind tibiae.

Antennal segment XI varies from pointed to obtusely rounded, but it is without a distinct stylet. There are minor setae on antennal segments V-X. Basal setae of the antennae are present or absent. The antennal bases are displaced medially to a varying extent. The clypeus is separated from the median lobe by a transverse impression, or else this area is covered by antennal sclerites. The clypeal setae are present or absent. The eyes are large with distinct ommatidia.
